Hello everyone,
This past week they started the framing process. The 4 walls and the roof trusses have gone up. The building is beginning to take shape now. At this point the plan is to enclose the structure with the plywood, then have plumbing and electrical come in. We will have a concrete slab put in once the plumbing and electrical are put in.
Here are the update photos:

So hopefully plumbing and electrical will get started tomorrow and Friday. It's exciting to see this project taking shape! It's also amazing to see how high the structure is, especially since it's sitting on a hill overlooking downtown Flushing. More pics to follow next week.

Foundation done, filled with dirt
Hello everyone,
So today the foundation is done and dirt has filled the brick up to the ground floor. Today the framing work has started. Within the next two weeks we will have the framing done and the roof covered hopefully. Plumbing and electrical work will then start. I will start posting more often when the work pace increases.
Here are pics from last night:
So you can see we are ready to build up from this point! Stay tuned in the next two weeks as the framing and roof will go up. - NS

Brickwork being done
Hello everyone,
This past week and probably for the next week, brickwork is being done. Large bricks with the split-face look (rough, rock-like face). It's been a cold, wet august, and this is slowing us down a little, but I'm happy that the brick-laying crew worked through the weekend, when the sun was out. The pictures show the bricks are multi-colored, but that's not how we are going to leave them. We will paint them to match the building color scheme. Here are some pics:
Once the brickwork is done, we will start on the framing, so things should move pretty quickly after that.

Foundation Footing completed
Hello Everybody,
Today the final portion of the foundation footing was completed. This was supposed to be done last week, but the tree removal had to be done first. With that tree out of the way, we are getting a lot more light in our office! I'm sure Mr. Squirrel is not happy though.
Once the foundation footings are set, we should see some more progress in the building God Willing.
Not much to see in the pictures today, but here they are anyway:
3/4 of the foundation footing from last week:
Poured up the south portion of the foundation:
Much more visibility of our building now that the old building is gone and the tree is down. Now I have to get rid of the old fence.
OK, that's all for now. Hopefully we will be moving quicker soon.

Big old tree removed today
Hello Everyone,
We now have the foundation footing in. In the process of digging the space for the footing, some roots were damaged of the huge maple tree next to my current dental office. The contractor recommended we remove the tree now because if it dies later and needs to be removed, it will be a lot more difficult to remove. I was hoping to keep the tree, but alas it's not going to survive. Plus there was concerns with the roots damaging the new building in the future or damaging the side entrance sidewalk.
So today the big tree was taken down.
Wow, the current building is really exposed now. No tree and no building blocking the view. They should finish up on the foundation work this week now that the tree is down. I did want the stump to remain. I plan on placing a table top on top of it and making a picnic table out of it.
After foundation work, they will work on the plumbing. Stay tuned.

House removed
Hello everybody,
Today is Monday, July 15 and on Friday the house and all the debris had been removed. There is a big hole in the ground where the basement was. Today, they are removing a tree and shrubs and any concrete left from the basement, getting the site ready for foundation work. Hopefully we will be ready for the foundation work this week.

Building demolition today! Official start of construction.
So finally the big day when we started the building demolition! The last couple of days the demolition crew was stripping the building from the inside. All the trim and doors were taken down, as was the old furnace and any left over cabinetry.
Using the huge claw, the demo crew crushed the back shed, the side and front porch. The demo crew took apart the third floor/attic manually in order to prevent the building from toppling over to the neighbor's property, or over our dental office! The building was not completely demolished. Tomorrow they will finish the demolition.
Here are photos from the demolition:
So we are finally getting the project going! Stayed tuned tomorrow, hopefully the whole building will be leveled.
